Promoting health in the work place

Healthy employees help keep a business healthy, too. Encouraging healthy lifestyles can be a fine line, because you don’t want to offend anyone. On the other hand, promoting health in the workplace can significantly improve lives. Here a few ways to help the workplace be a healthier place.

Instead of only offering junk food or vending machine snacks, consider offering healthy foods. Fruits and veggies are not often available at work. If the expense is too much, charge around the same price as the vending machine for the healthier options. Not all will choose to partake, but it gives everyone another option, one that’s better for their well-being.

Many local gyms will give businesses group discounts. This is a great opportunity to offer your employees. Do some research and see if you can negotiate a discount for your employees, then just let everyone know that it’s there if they’d like to use it.

Nearly every city has a health fair. They usually take place at health-affiliated businesses or at hospitals and are for residents of nearby cities. What many don’t know is that with a little organizational skill and some phone calls, you can get local health agencies to have a mini health fair at your business just for your employees.
