Sending notes is not just something that’s old fashion, it’s can also be a great technique for maintaining good building effective business relationships with the people you know and the prospects you meet.

Take the simple task of going to the mailbox. When you get your mail, what’s the first envelope that gets opened? For most people, it’s the envelopes that are genuinely handwritten, not the direct mail fake stuff we all get. Your clients probably feel the same way. A handwritten note sends a message to the receiver. A message that you cared enough to take the time to sit down and write in this day and age of instant electronic communication.

An email just doesn’t pack the same punch, and they don’t look as nice or show the personality of the writer. That’s right, a handwritten letter can easily show your reader how you feel about life. Those swirls, dots, and flourishments are unique to only you and can show what mood you were in when you penned it, whether you are a meek mannered person, or a bold business person with all the new ideas.

It doesn’t have to be a book, four or five sentences can often be enough to make your reader decide to save your writings as a memento. In this day and age, a handwritten letter can truly make you memorable to other people because so few do it. It’s not “old fashioned,” to show your customers or clients they are special to you.
