They say that life is what you make it, and the same applies to business branding. Making the most of all the facets of your life will only make your business branding better. Creating, building, or growing something and sharing it with others is one deeply satisfying aspect of life that is often underestimated.
A friend of Wise Business Plans related to us that she makes grows aromatic plants to make beauty products like soap and has also turned her backyard into a beautiful vegetable garden. In the spring and summer, she drives around the countryside, collecting blackberries, wild plums, figs, and other fresh fruits from friends and neighbors to turn them into jams and jellies to give to others. She shared with us that most of her friends and neighbors who have wild fruits on their property would never consider bothering to go out and harvest them. While this is a hobby now, her passion could easily lend itself to a business venture someday, and it will be the result of doing something that she loves.
Another friend revealed to us that, as a young professional, she never wanted to grow plants or fresh flowers, until her mother brought her a small potted flower that needed some tender loving care. She says she now has a sun porch full of beautiful plants that give her joy, especially when she can spread that pleasure by gifting a plant to someone else. And now she can also see how plants and tasteful decor can make her office environment more inviting.
Still, another Wise friend said that, even though all of her children are grown and out of the house, she keeps her love of bread baking alive by bringing warm, fragrant loaves to her elderly neighbors, who all, of course, greatly appreciate it. This same kind of commitment to a skill or talent that has been honed over time can come in handy as a manager or business owner.
These may seem like extreme examples, and many of us don’t have the time to grow a garden or bake bread, but there is a lot to be said for sharing something of yourself with the rest of the world, particularly when you have nurtured and made it uniquely yours.
